Frankly, the first two Thor movies left us a little underwhelmed, but we are really looking forward to Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel recruited the incredibly funny Flight of the Conchords director Taika Waititi to take the helm. After seeing Chris Hemsworth’s comedy chops in this summer’s Ghostbusters, we are really excited to see some humor injected into the franchise.
They also decided to make it a buddy picture by adding Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk to the mix. And most importantly, they are introducing the badass female warrior Valkyrie, played by Creed‘s Tessa Thompson.
Shooting is currently underway, and some fun details have started to emerge. Tessa Thompson posted this photo of Valkyrie’s sword to Instagram the other day.

Director Waititi also teased the greater plot that has been developing throughout all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films in his own Instagram post. We will be studying this photo carefully for clues for weeks to come.
