French actress Elodie Yung has been cast as Elektra, Matt Murdock’s love interest and/or mortal enemy in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil television show on Netflix.
Yung is best known to Americans as Jinx in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. She joins previously announced Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal, who was cast as antihero The Punisher.
Marvel’s Head of Television Jeff Loeb announced Yung’s casting in a statement:
After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.
