Numerous sources are reporting that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is in final negotiations to join the Marvel Universe as She-Hulk in the Disney+ series of the same name.
Like the comic, She-Hulk will focus on attorney Jennifer Walters, who after a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner develops the ability to turn into a 6’7″ bright green Amazon with amazing strength. But unlike her cousin, Jen can control when she “Hulks out” and retains her intelligence and personality when transformed.
Maslany was most recently seen in the HBO series Perry Mason, but is best known for her star-making turn as the lead in all five seasons of the BBC sci-fi show Orphan Black. Maslany was nominated for three Emmys and a Golden Globe for her work on the show.
Masaly joins director and executive producer Kat Coiro, who will direct the pilot and additional episodes of the series and Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao who is writing the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner.
She-Hulk joins a growing slate of superhero series debuting on Disney Plus with potential crossover to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision will both debut later this year, followed by Loki in early 2021. Other series, including Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight have been announced and are in preproduction.
