European Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti who is currently aboard the International Space Station, tweeted a photo of herself in a Star Trek uniform last Friday.
“There’s coffee in that nebula’ … ehm, I mean… in that #Dragon,” she posted.

The SpaceX operated “Dragon” spacecraft was delivering a load of cargo to the space station that included the first ever espresso machine in space. Prior to the coffee machine’s arrival, the only java option aboard the orbiting laboratory was powdered instant coffee.
The quote is originally from the Star Trek show Voyager. “There’s coffee in that nebula,” was first uttered by Kathryn Janeway, captain of the USS Voyager and fellow astronaut and coffee aficionado in the episode “The Cloud.”
Janeway was the first woman to take the captain’s chair in a Star Trek television series or movie, and if this sefie is any indication, our drive to tell stories about a fictional woman reaching the stars inspired at least one woman to do the same in real life.
